Birdsong
As My Body rests,
Birdsong brights up My Morning—
Morning turns to Day,
My Surroundings bloom and spring—
The Night vanishes behind Me.
This is my first sucessful tanka-poem, entitled Birdsong.
For those who don’t know tanka is a genre of japanese poetry.
The rules are the following.
The poem must have five lines
First and third line must have 5 syllables
The remaining lines must have 7 syllables
Writing poems following such strict rules is a fun challenge for sure. Hope you enjoy:)
Thanks for reading!

Your poem inspired me to write my own, which also features birds!
