"Golden shadows cover / glittering ideas / with sparkling light / of fruitful nothingness." Too much stimulus; light disguises light. Tends to make us forget the inevitable shadow that lies underneath, where the true union of spirit abounds.
Wonderful work, Rasmus. Here's to hoping for a world not too far gone in their dopamine addiction, and for a return back to the ground.
Thank you for the kind words and interpretation Elijay! There's always hope that we will start finding meaning in the smaller things, and that we will have time to indulge in those quiet moments of life, and thus find deeper joys in our lives!
"got-going gotten gone." - not me trying to remember how to put verbs in the past tense in English.
The overall feel of this poem is kind of like a fractalization of a dopaminergic high and the unwanted, something-is-missing mood of a comedown. I feel the high every 3 lines, comedown in the last. The high in every stanza and the comedown in the last one.
Haha, those past verb tenses can be tryicky for sure!
Thanks for your thoughful reading of my poem, Luciana! I definitely intended to have a sort of duality between the lines, a sort of down to the high, as you said!
Thank you James! Definitely, the flow of stimulus in today's society is so constant that it's hard to really pay attention to things around you, so you're sure to miss something, even just the quiet and repose that comes from being bored occasionally!
Dopamine plays a big role in addictions. Great poem, Rasmus!
It sure does Rea! I had a lot of fun exploring the concept in poetic form. I am really glad you enjoyed it!<3
Very reflective piece Rasmus, really slowed me down this morning. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you kindly, Benno! That's exactly the effect I hoped for! Glad you enjoyed:)

Love it!❤️
Thanks you kindly, Aster! <3
You're welcome, Rasmus! ^_^
The dopamine epidemic has changed the world more than any other drug on the planet
For sure! It's the one drug that has infilitrated all lives no matter profession, age, or status!
Nice one, Rasmus; definitely some things worthy of contemplation in 2025!
"What’s gone lost
in the process?
What’s left?
and what did you miss?"
Yes indeed. Things we should ask ourselves when engaging in a lot of modern (read: screen-centric) activities.
