A Commemoration:
God resides in the soul.
Eternities exist within
the parished and forgotten.
We've been witnesses
to something that will never be.
We've been glaring at shadows,
searching for clarity in our inner.
The Imans of treachery
speak with tongues
void of virtues.
Deed's holy sins
let you live, learning
to die, letting go...
We've reflected ourselves unto
dead air of living dreams.
We've been clinging to dust
hoping its disintegration to be meaning.
The night hears nothing
but whispers and sighs
clenching for time.
Listen for the silence;
you'll get used to it,
its freedom, its prison.
We've dragged on
a courtcase with no hearing,
and for no reason...
We've lusted for hope,
let our hearts nurture it.
We've realized—
Life's too fleeting
for the eternal sentence
We demanded of it.Cover Art: The Evening of Ashura by Mahmoud Farshchian, 1976
