Ah, thanks Rea! I do like how voiceovers can enhance a work like this. It's a fun treat for the audio inclined :)

That voice over was epic! Really added to the cinematic feel of the sonnets. Love Miyazaki so enjoyed how both captured the themes of the movie as well as the reflections, it makes for a very rich reading. Also cool to see Josh finally doing a fixed form after 20 bloody de-sonnets!

Yeah Josh nailed it! I would love to see how he would approach adapting these sonnets into free-verse again! Writing with limitations forces you to change, adapt and/or evolve your style!

Thank you for reading Benno!

Haha yeah, I'll have to translate this out of sonnet form. 🤣

I really love this idea of reflecting on film through poetry. Nausicaä is an excellent choice as well

Thank you Daniel! For sure the film was ideal for adapting into poetry! The film's imagery is vivid and poetic, and the messaging is potent and more relevant today than ever!

I feel very much as Josh does about Myazaki’s work. His stories are the stories we need to hear most in our age. Nausicaä’s a long-time favorite.

I loved the audio version of this; had to smile in the first couple seconds of hearing the theme come up. Excellent job bringing both score and poems together, and well-recited as usual!

Great job on the sonnets as well. I personally loved the more organic feel to both and they were great to listen to.

Thank you for your comment James!

Yeah Myazaki is brilliant. The worlds of his film are magical and inviting, while feeling realistic and lived in. The messaging is always direct, but never lacking nuance. Nausicaä in many ways was a preview of what was to come, but still stands on its own as a great film!

I'm glad you enjoyed me and Josh's collaboration!

Yeah, the score is just too good. I found a copy of it on vinyl and sampled it from that.

Thanks for listening!

I came into Nausicaa relatively recently and I was shocked it was produced in 1984. Apart from the synths (which I enjoyed!) it really is timeless.

It also speaks perhaps to the hand drawn animation versus what we have now too perhaps.
